No. 5 Florida beats Mississippi State 108-74 in Gainesville
Gainesville, Fla. — No. 5 Florida defeated Mississippi State 108-74 Tuesday night in men’s college basketball action. The Bulldogs started strong, jumping out to a 24-14 lead early in the game.
The Gators responded with an 18-0 run over a span of six minutes, taking a 47-35 halftime lead. In the second half, Florida continued to extend its advantage, adding seven unanswered points early and maintaining a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.
Mississippi State was hampered by struggles on the boards, being outrebounded 53-26. The Bulldogs also committed only five turnovers compared to Florida’s 13, but couldn’t keep pace offensively.
Josh Hubbard led Mississippi State with 21 points and five assists. Jayden Epps added 14 points and four assists for Florida, which shot 54.9% from the field and 36.4% from three-point range. The Bulldogs will close their regular season Saturday against Georgia at Humphrey Coliseum, with tipoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on SEC Network.
