No. 4 Mississippi State Hosts Troy and Alcorn State in Midweek Baseball Games
Mississippi State, ranked No. 4 in the nation, will host Troy and Alcorn State for two midweek college baseball games this week. Both games are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. and will be available on SEC Network+. This marks the fourth and fifth games for the Bulldogs over a six-day span, part of a nine-game homestand at Dudy Noble Field to start the season.
The Bulldogs opened their 2026 campaign with a three-game sweep of Hofstra last weekend. Sophomore right-hander Duke Stone is set to make his first career start Tuesday against Troy. Stone earned the win in relief Friday with two innings, four strikeouts, and two walks.
Troy enters the game with a 1-2 record after losing two games at Mercer and winning one. The Trojans are batting .305 with four home runs and averaging nine runs per game. Senior Drew Nelson leads Troy with a .545 batting average, while the pitching staff has an ERA of 9.70 through 21 1/3 innings.
Mississippi State holds a 5-1 all-time record against Troy, including an 11-0 victory in their last meeting in 2024. The Bulldogs also host Alcorn State on Wednesday. The Braves are 1-2 after competing in the MLB HBCU Power Series last weekend. They are batting .230 with no home runs, averaging 6.3 runs per game.
Alcorn State’s pitching staff has an ERA of 8.54, with junior left-hander Caden Wade scheduled to start in his season debut. Mississippi State has not announced its starting pitcher for Wednesday. The Bulldogs have a perfect 18-0 record against the Braves all-time, with their last meeting resulting in an 11-0 win in 2024.
