Mississippi Valley State Volleyball Opens 2026 Season at Betty Austin Invitational

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Mississippi Valley State University volleyball begins its 2026 season this weekend at the Betty Austin Invitational, hosted by Alabama A&M University. The Delta Devils will play three matches over two days.

On Friday, they face South Carolina State at 2 p.m. and later play UMES at 6 p.m. The tournament wraps up Saturday with a match against Delaware State at 8 a.m. All games are scheduled to take place in Huntsville, Alabama.

This season marks a new chapter for the team under head coach Shay Ashford. MVSU is focusing on building team chemistry, discipline, and establishing a strong foundation for the upcoming schedule. Playing three programs in the opening weekend offers an early opportunity to evaluate progress and gain experience before returning to Mississippi for the nonconference portion of the season.
