Mississippi State Track Sets Multiple Records at Tom Jones Memorial

Gainesville, Fla. — Mississippi State’s track and field team set multiple program records Saturday at the Tom Jones Memorial meet hosted by Florida.

Marie Rougetet highlighted the day with a personal best in the hammer throw, reaching 69.67 meters. The mark extends her school record by more than two meters, leads the SEC by over two meters and ranks fourth in the NCAA this season, according to the school.

Freshmen also made a significant impact. De’Kayla Simpson ran the 400 meters in 52.38 seconds, setting a freshman record and posting the third-fastest time in program history. Meanwhile, Ife Adisa finished the 800 meters in 2:04.05, and Jayden Thrower leaped 15.60 meters in the triple jump, both adding to the school’s record books.

Several athletes improved their positions on the all-time list. Manie Mevo jumped 13.28 meters in the triple jump, moving into second in school history and winning the collegiate section. Nicholas Fakorede clocked 10.04 seconds in the 100 meters, breaking into the top five in program history and ranking among the NCAA’s top ten. Alla Parnov cleared 4.05 meters in the pole vault, moving up to fourth on the school’s all-time list.

The relay team of Adisa, Aladeloye, Merryman, and Simpson finished the 4×400-meter relay in 3:32.51, the second-fastest time in program history. The performances contributed to Mississippi State’s overall success at the meet, according to the school.
