Mississippi State Men’s Tennis Signs Argentine Player Segundo Goity Zapico
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State men’s tennis head coach Matt Roberts announced Thursday the signing of Segundo Goity Zapico, a top player from Argentina. The junior transfer joins the Bulldogs from Florida Atlantic University, where he posted a 31-21 singles record over two seasons.
Originally from Intendente Alvear, La Pampa, Argentina, Goity Zapico has two years of experience with Argentina’s national team. During the 2026 season, he played primarily on courts one and two, finishing with a 9-11 singles record, including six straight-set victories.
Goity Zapico’s professional ranking includes an ATP singles ranking of 1,174 and an ITF singles ranking of 523. His best ITF season ranking was No. 66, and he has claimed three ITF Championship titles. He has competed in three Junior Grand Slam events, including the Australian Open, French Open, and U.S. Open.
Most recently, he reached the round of 32 in singles and quarterfinals in doubles at an ATP Challenger event in Cordoba, Argentina. His international experience and success add to Mississippi State’s reputation as a leading college tennis program, which has advanced to consecutive NCAA quarterfinals under Coach Roberts.
