Mississippi State Freshman Wins Bronze at USATF U20 Championships
EUGENE, Ore. — Mississippi State University’s freshmen track athletes wrapped up their performances at the USATF U20 Championships on Friday evening. Jayden Thrower led the group with a third-place finish in the men’s triple jump, earning a bronze medal.
Thrower recorded a personal best of 15.85 meters in the second round of the competition, a jump that also set a program freshman record. His mark was enough to secure third place among 15 competitors.
In other events, De’Kayla Simpson finished fifth in the 400-meter final with a time of 52.00 seconds. Camryn Merryman placed sixth in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in 2:05.12. All three athletes will now compete in upcoming national championships around the world this summer, advancing Mississippi State’s postseason efforts.
