Mississippi State Alumna Sierra Sacco-Ferrie Leads Portland Cascade in Series Against Oklahoma City Spark
STARKVILLE — Sierra Sacco-Ferrie, a Mississippi State alumna, played a key role in Portland Cascade’s recent softball series against the Oklahoma City Spark. The series included a dramatic 4-3 victory for the Spark on Sunday, with Sacco-Ferrie contributing offensively and defensively, according to team sources.
In the Sunday game, Sacco-Ferrie scored the first run for her team after drawing a walk and later hitting her first double of the season. She nearly scored again in the sixth inning but was put out at home after a review. The Spark scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning, securing the win in a tightly contested game.
Sacco-Ferrie’s earlier performances included a single in Portland’s 3-0 series-opening victory. She has been a consistent presence at the plate, extending her reached-base streak to five games prior to the series. Her efforts come as she continues to develop after returning from injury last season.
The series is part of a busy schedule for Sacco-Ferrie and her teammates, with upcoming games against Texas and Chicago. Portland is scheduled to visit Texas on June 26-28 and will host the Chicago Bandits on June 27-28. Sacco-Ferrie and her teammates will meet again in Oklahoma City on July 4-5, with another Bulldog, Mia Davidson, expected to make her AUSL debut after returning from playing in Japan.
Goold, from Oklahoma City, also contributed to the series, earning a win in the second game and showing effectiveness on the mound. The Spark has a series of two-game matchups in the coming weeks as they prepare for postseason action.
