Hinds Community College will have a new look in its baseball coaching staff for the 2026-2027 season. Triston Hickman, Gunnar Dennis, and Dylan Coleman will join the program on July 1, according to the school.

Hickman will serve as the team’s hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. Dennis will be the pitching coach, and Coleman will join as a graduate assistant coach. Head coach Dan Rives praised the trio, citing their energy and winning experience from top programs. Rives also noted that all three were All-Conference players and understand the demands of junior college baseball.

Hickman, a Stone High School graduate from Wiggins, recently helped Pearl River Community College win the 2026 NJCAA Division II National Championship as an assistant coach. He played at Pearl River, earning All-MACCC Second Team honors in 2023 after hitting .389 with a .544 on-base percentage. He transferred to Delta State University, where he started 37 games over two seasons, hitting .308 and earning a bachelor’s degree in general business in 2025.

Gunnar Dennis, a Meridian High School graduate, played at Meridian Community College, Ole Miss, and with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League. Dennis retired from playing in September 2025 and has since worked with Peak Velocity Performance and The Box, as well as coaching at East Rankin Academy. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Ole Miss in 2025.

Dylan Coleman, from Madison, began his college career at Hinds, where he made the NJCAA All-American Second Team in 2023 with a .412 batting average. He transferred to Delta State, earning Division II All-American honors in 2024 with 17 home runs. In 2025, he hit .359 with 13 home runs at Delta State, and in 2026, he played at the University of North Alabama, earning First Team All-ASUN honors with a .292 batting average and 16 home runs. He recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Hinds will replace assistants Caleb Upton and Cade Killingsworth, who moved to high school coaching, and graduate assistant Josh Turner, who completed his master’s degree.
