Mississippi College Women’s Tennis Heads to NCAA South Regional
CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College women’s tennis has qualified for the NCAA Division II South Regional. The tournament is scheduled for May 8-9 at Barry University’s Buccaneer Tennis Center in Miami Shores, Florida.
The Choctaws enter as the No. 4 seed with a 23-1 overall record, including an undefeated 8-0 mark in Gulf South Conference play. They have posted strong results both at home and on the road this season, building one of the top resumes in the region.
Mississippi College will face No. 5 seed West Alabama on Friday, May 8, at 9 a.m. Central Time. The winner will advance to play the top-seeded Barry on Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m., for a spot in the NCAA Division II Championships. Both teams competed in GSC competition during the regular season, making Friday’s matchup a familiar conference rivalry.
The Buccaneer Tennis Center features eight lighted Laykold courts and regularly hosts NCAA South Regional matches. Barry, the tournament’s No. 1 seed and host, earned a first-round bye and awaits the outcome of the opening match.
The regional is part of the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Championship, with the winner moving on to the national finals later this month. Mississippi College aims to continue its successful season and make a deep run on the national stage.
