Mississippi College Baseball in NCAA Division II South Region Rankings

Clinton, Miss. — Mississippi College baseball is in contention for the NCAA Division II postseason after the release of the first South Region rankings on Wednesday, April 22, according to the NCAA. The Choctaws are among the teams vying in a competitive region that includes nationally ranked programs such as Tampa, West Florida, West Alabama and Lee.

The South Region will send eight teams to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Conference tournament champions automatically qualify, while five at-large bids will be awarded based on regional performance, the NCAA said. The eight-team regional will determine a champion that advances to the Super Regional round and a spot in the NCAA Division II College World Series.

Mississippi College concludes its regular season this weekend with a three-game Gulf South Conference series against Delta State in Cleveland, Miss. The series opener is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, April 24, the NCAA said.
