Mississippi Christian Women’s Soccer Focuses on Leadership and Team Chemistry in Fall Camp

Mississippi Christian University women’s soccer has started fall camp with goals to build team chemistry, define its identity, and contend for a Gulf South Conference title, according to sources familiar with the program.

Juniors Brinn Picard and Faith Clark highlighted the positive momentum during the first week. Clark praised the welcoming attitude of returning players toward newcomers, helping create a cohesive team dynamic early in preseason. “The team looks really strong. We have a really good group of girls. Everyone’s mixing together really well,” she said.

Picard noted the high energy levels during practices, emphasizing the team’s determination to succeed. “There’s a lot of high-intensity energy at every practice,” she said. “We’ve all come in with the mindset that we want to win the GSC and change this program around again.”

Both players are part of an eight-member leadership council that approaches team leadership collectively. Clark described their roles, saying, “We each have different jobs, tasks and really just lead the team well. We bring the energy and push girls every practice.” Picard added that this shared leadership fosters a supportive environment beyond just the council members, stating, “The leadership dynamic is a bit different this year, but I think it’s better. We’re all leaders, not just the eight of us.”

With more than 40 players working toward common goals, Picard expressed optimism about the team’s development. “It’s really good to see everyone stepping up and playing their role,” she said.

As preseason progresses and the regular season approaches, both players are eager to translate team chemistry into competitive success. Picard shared her excitement for upcoming games, saying, “I’m most looking forward to bringing energy, fun and high intensity to every game. We’re all in this together to win the GSC.” Clark echoed that enthusiasm, noting her anticipation to return to the field with her teammates.

The Lady Choctaws aim to establish a strong identity in the early part of the season, driven by leadership and unity, with both players confident in the team’s potential to succeed.
