Mississippi Christian’s volleyball team opened its 2026 season with two straight losses Friday at the Dallas Classic, held at the Burg Center in Dallas, Texas. The Choctaws fell 26-24, 25-15, 25-20 to Biola in the morning and lost 25-14, 25-13, 25-12 to Colorado Mesa in the afternoon, according to team reports.
Against Biola, the Choctaws nearly took the first set. They led 24-23 late after a block from Harper Green and Aubrie Lay. Biola scored the final three points to win 26-24. Holland Williams led MC with six kills, while Lay added two service aces and four block assists. Mamie Fromdahl hit .000 with two kills and also posted nine assists. Reese Regner contributed nine assists and 11 digs.
Mississippi Christian struggled to maintain momentum in the second set, which Biola won 25-15. The Choctaws opened the third set well, with an early 2-0 lead and a late 10-6 advantage after a service ace from Fromdahl. However, Biola responded and won the set 25-20, sealing the match.
In the afternoon against Colorado Mesa, the Mavericks hit .361 as a team and controlled the match. The Choctaws fell behind early, losing the first set 25-14 despite a rally sparked by Cydney Mitchell’s kill and service ace. The Mavericks also won the second set 25-13 and closed out the match with a 25-12 victory in the third. Mitchell led MC with four kills and a .600 hitting percentage, while Caroline Downey added five kills. Samarin Kipple recorded a team-high 12 digs, and Regner finished with five assists and three digs.
Mississippi Christian will face No. 7 Nebraska Kearney at 10 a.m. Saturday and Dallas Baptist at 3 p.m., both matches at the Burg Center. The team aims to earn its first victory of the season during the final day of the tournament, according to team officials.
