Mississippi Christian University Women’s Soccer Opens Season With 1-0 Win

CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi Christian University’s women’s soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 1-0 victory over Emmanuel College on Thursday afternoon at Robinson-Hale Stadium.

The Lady Choctaws dominated play, outshooting the Lions 21-4 and putting 12 shots on goal. They also held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.

MC took the lead in the 18th minute when Kerri O’Hara scored off an assist from Faith Clark. The team continued to apply pressure, testing Emmanuel goalkeeper Ana Ramirez-Cortes multiple times in the first half. Brynn Hedberg made a save on Emmanuel’s lone first-half shot on target, helping the Lady Choctaws carry a 1-0 lead into halftime.

After the break, the Lady Choctaws pressed forward, recording eight shots on goal in the second half. Kahlen Watters, Parker St. Amant, and Paula Catalan each tested Ramirez-Cortes, but the goalkeeper kept Emmanuel in the game. Late in the match, Bodry and Bailey Donahue both hit the woodwork, and Ramirez-Cortes made a key save on Catalan in the 88th minute.

Hedberg finished the match with two saves, including a stop on Emmanuel’s Kamryn Simmons late in the game. The defense held firm in the final minutes to preserve the shutout. Bodry led MC with seven shots, four on goal, and O’Hara scored on her only shot of the match. Clark contributed an assist and one shot.

This victory marked the first win under Mississippi Christian University’s new name. The Lady Choctaws return to action Saturday at home against the same opponent at 2 p.m. at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
