Millsaps Track and Field Shines at 2026 SAA Outdoor Championships

MOBILE, Ala. — The Millsaps College men’s and women’s track and field programs highlighted their season at the 2026 Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Championships, held Saturday at Valhalla Stadium. The final day featured record-breaking performances and several top finishes for the Majors.

Freshman Benjamin Sylve set a school record in the 800 meters, finishing sixth with a time of 1:56.42. The effort marked nearly two seconds faster than the previous record, according to school officials. On the men’s side, Greer Hernandez secured fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:37.60, following his victory in the 10,000 meters the day prior.

Freshman Dallas Stricker ran the second-fastest 1,500 meters in school history, finishing 11th in 4:07.58. Meanwhile, Frederick Fluker Jr. improved his standing in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line eighth in 16.12 seconds. On the women’s side, Fiona Selders continued her strong season, finishing sixth in the 100 meters in 12.38 seconds and seventh in the 200 meters in 25.40 seconds. Her times rank her as the second-fastest in program history for both events.

Senior Eleanor Scott scored for the women in two jumping events, placing seventh in the high jump at 1.52 meters and eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.85 meters. Amari Jackson-Wright also contributed in the shot put, finishing 12th with a mark of 10.61 meters. The field team posted solid results in the discus, with junior Amelia Bohl measuring 32.97 meters to finish 11th. Jackson-Wright, Reese Brasseaux, and Laken Day also competed in the discus, placing 17th, 19th, and 20th, respectively.

For the men’s throws, Sean Wyers led the effort with a discus throw of 42.56 meters, placing sixth and moving into second in school history. Michael Cosgriff added a ninth-place finish with a mark of 40.62 meters, making him the third-best discus thrower at Millsaps. Freshmen Jacacri Watson and Dillon Duley also competed in the discus and shot put, posting personal bests and high placements.

The relay teams contributed additional points, with the men’s 4×100-meter relay finishing fifth in 43.44 seconds and the men’s 4×400-meter relay placing sixth in 3:30.87. The women’s 4×400-meter relay team finished seventh with a time of 4:17.03. Both relay teams made their season debuts at the meet.
