Millsaps Football Looks to Continue Winning Tradition in 2026 Season
Jackson, Miss. — The Millsaps College football team is preparing for the 2026 season with a roster that includes 129 players, featuring 69 newcomers, 60 veterans, two transfers, and a graduate student. The Majors aim to capture their first conference title since 2019 and improve on last year’s third-place finish in the Southern Athletic Association.
The team will be led by head coach Brandon Lechtenberg, named the 2024 SAA Coach of the Year, along with 10 assistant coaches. The coaching staff includes Julian Jean-Baptiste as defensive coordinator and Armani Lonardo Ball as offensive coordinator.
Millsaps tied for fourth in the SAA preseason poll. Several players earned preseason honors, including sophomore Grant Bizjack, graduate Zabian Boutan, and senior Erik Contreras, all named to the C Spire Conerly Trophy Watch List.
Last season, the team scored 25 touchdowns and ranked first in the league for fewest interceptions. The defense ranked second in the league with 16 interceptions and nine forced fumbles. Offensively, the team amassed 1,867 rushing yards, with key contributors including Bizjack and quarterback Quez Goss.
Bizjack, who was a C Spire Conerly Trophy nominee in his first season, threw for 2,243 yards and 21 touchdowns last year. Goss, a dual-threat quarterback, rushed for 82 yards and three touchdowns in six games. The team will feature 11 running backs, including seniors Tameron Patterson and Mitch Taylor, who combined for over 629 rushing yards last season.
