Coahoma to Host White Out Home Opener Against Jones College

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Coahoma Community College’s football team is calling on its fans to participate in a “White Out” at the home opener Thursday night against Jones College at James E. Miller Stadium.

The Tigers aim to improve after a narrow 27-21 loss to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in their season opener. They hope to build on an offensive effort that saw 459 total yards, led by quarterback Jacob Clopton, who completed 20 of 29 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns. Clopton also rushed for 69 yards and a score on 17 carries, according to sources.

Running back Prentavis Madison contributed 82 rushing yards on 17 carries, while wide receiver Abraylen Jenkins caught five passes for 74 yards, the sources said. On defense, Ardavius Harris led with nine tackles, including five solo stops. The defensive line, featuring Jakylen Patton and Dacaris Brown, will look to pressure Jones College’s offense, which struggled in its last game.

Jones College arrives seeking its first win of the season after a 38-35 loss to Northwest Mississippi Community College on a last-second field goal. The Bobcats’ rushing attack is led by CJ Rush, who scored four rushing touchdowns and gained 61 yards in the opener. Quarterback Jevarion Glover threw for 209 yards and a touchdown, with receiver Tyree Barnett catching nine passes for 169 yards, according to team reports.

Fans are encouraged to wear white to support the Tigers’ “White Out” theme. Attendees are also reminded that Coahoma’s athletic department has begun a soft rollout of cashless payment options. While cash will still be accepted at limited stations, the department recommends using debit, credit, or mobile payment platforms for faster service, sources said.

Founded in 1949, Coahoma Community College is a public, historically Black community college in Clarksdale, Mississippi. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and transfer programs across diverse fields. It’s celebrating 77 years of academic excellence and is known for its nursing, health sciences, and technical programs.
