Jackson State Track and Field Sets Six Personal Records at UAB Invite

The Jackson State track and field team recorded six personal bests and finished with two top-three placements at the UAB Invite held in Birmingham on Saturday. Nedgine Morancy secured second place in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 11.65 meters, while Sedgwrick Pitts Jr. finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.32 seconds, according to team sources.

Several athletes also posted personal bests in various events. Karina Griffin competed in the 400 meters, Collins Kibet, Lorine Jelagat, and Joan Koech ran in the 3,000 meters, Malayna Mallory set a mark in the weight throw, and Godfrey Kimutai ran the mile, all recording new personal records, officials said.

The Tigers will return to Birmingham for the Bulldog Invite hosted by Samford University on Feb. 13.
