Jackson State has three players named to the preseason HBCU College Football All-American team, announced Monday by BOXTOROW, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Wide receiver Nate Rembert was one of two offensive players selected. Last season, he played in 12 games with 11 starts, recording a team-high 45 receptions for 750 yards. Rembert averaged 16.7 yards per catch and scored seven touchdowns. He also ran six times for 74 yards and one rushing touchdown. Additionally, he returned five kicks, including four punts and one kickoff.
Rembert’s season highlights included two games with six receptions, against Mississippi Valley State and Alcorn State, and a 100-yard receiving game against Alcorn State. He also scored two receiving touchdowns and ran for a season-high 40 yards and a touchdown against Florida A&M.
Joining Rembert on offense is senior offensive lineman Quaveon Davis. Davis helped pave the way for three rushing backs to surpass 500 yards, including a 1,000-yard rusher. His unit finished the regular season ranked second nationally in rushing offense and second in fourth-down conversion percentage. Davis maintained an 88 percent grade, recorded 27 pancakes, and allowed only 1.5 sacks.
Defensive back Kam Sallis was also recognized. Sallis played in all 11 games, starting at safety. He totaled 53 tackles, including 27 solo stops, with two interceptions and two pass breakups. Sallis also forced two fumbles and had a career-high 12 tackles against Prairie View A&M. He was named a semifinalist for the Aeneas Williams Award and earned second-team All-Conference honors last season.
