Southern Miss Football Lands Four on PFN All-Sun Belt Teams

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The University of Southern Mississippi football team was recognized by Pro Football Network (PFN) on Monday, with four players named to the preseason All-Sun Belt teams. The announcement came just before the Golden Eagles began their fifth day of fall camp at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.

Luke Rogers and AJ Little earned second-team honors, while Broderick Roman and Kelby Hampton were selected to the third team. Little was recognized as a punt returner, and both Rogers and Roman contributed significantly to Southern Miss’s high-powered offense last season.

Roman, a starting center in 13 games, played a key role in the Golden Eagles’ league-leading passing offense and their fifth-best overall offense in the Sun Belt. Roman shifted to right guard for the final three games of the season. Rogers, an offensive lineman, and Roman helped the team increase its total offensive yardage by more than 120 yards per game compared to the previous year.

AJ Little, a transfer from Chattanooga, is entering his first season with Southern Miss as a wide receiver. The redshirt sophomore caught 27 passes for 345 yards in 12 games last year, including a 93-yard reception against Samford. Little also ranked second in the FCS with 123 punt return yards on nine attempts, with at least one reception in each of the last 11 games of the season.

Kelby Hampton, a sophomore transfer from New Hampshire, made an immediate impact as a defensive back. He played nine games as a freshman, recording 26 tackles, seven pass deflections, and two interceptions, including a 23-yard return against Albany. Hampton’s best performances included six tackles against Villanova and Monmouth.

The Golden Eagles are back on the field Tuesday for practice six of fall camp, preparing for their season opener against Alcorn State on Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. Tickets and season plans remain available at SouthernMiss.com/Tickets.
