Hinds Golf Finishes Fourth at Ranger Men’s Invitational

The Hinds Community College men’s golf team finished fourth at the three-round Ranger Men’s Invitational at Tunica National Golf Course, according to school officials. The Eagles posted a 54-hole team score of 29-over par.

Hinds opened with a +9 score, followed by an +11 in the second round and a +9 in the final round, finishing at +29 for the tournament. The team finished ahead of Pearl River Community College, Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Itawamba Community College, Southwest Mississippi Community College and Dyersburg State Community College.

Bryce Fairley led the Eagles individually, tying for fourth place with a score of 2-under par. He opened with a 76 (+4), then responded with a 68 (-4) in the second round and a 70 (-2) in the final round. Fairley’s 68 was tied for one of the best individual rounds of the tournament.

Leandro Izquierdoz finished 13th overall at 5-over par, recording rounds of 74, 74 and 73. Matthew Jones tied for 16th at 12-over par, with rounds of 71, 85 and 80. Bradley Cohen placed 24th at 15-over, with rounds of 76, 80 and 75. Guillermo Barrado finished 39th at 22-over par, and Landon Maples was 53rd at 54-over par.

Northwest Mississippi claimed the team championship with a score of 8-over par, followed by East Central Community College at 13 over and Jones College at 18 over. Hinds is scheduled to return to competition September 14-15 at the Northeast Invitational in Corinth at Shiloh Ridge Athletic Club.
