Curtis Symonds to Speak at Southern Heritage Classic Coaches Luncheon
Memphis, Tenn. — Curtis Symonds, a television executive and co-founder of HBCU GO, will be the featured speaker at the Southern Heritage Classic Coaches Luncheon on Sept. 11. The event, sponsored by FedEx, takes place at the Renasant Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom and begins at noon.
Symonds is the president of HBCU GO, a free streaming platform dedicated to showcasing sports, entertainment, and educational content from historically black colleges and universities. He previously worked at ESPN and BET and played a key role in securing 10-year media rights deals with the Southwestern Athletic Conference and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
This year, Symonds was inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame, an honor recognizing influential leaders in the cable industry. The invitation-only luncheon will honor the head football coaches of this year’s competing schools, UAPB’s Alonzo Hampton and Alcorn State’s Cedric Thomas.
The weekend concludes with the 37th Southern Heritage Classic football game on Sept. 12 at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
