CCC Tigers Lose Doubleheader to Co-Lin Wolves

Clarksdale, Miss. — The CCC Tigers lost both games of a Tuesday doubleheader against the Co-Lin Wolves, with scores of 14-5 and 3-0. In Game 1, the Tigers took an early lead but were overwhelmed by the Wolves’ offensive explosion.

In the top of the first inning, Trey Washington drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, giving the Tigers an early advantage. However, Co-Lin responded with six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the inning, taking control of the game. Bradley Hanlon delivered a two-run single during the rally. Starting pitcher Bryson Ford allowed six runs on eight hits over three innings, striking out four and walking two, in his outing for the Tigers.

Griffith earned the win for the Wolves, allowing three runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts. The Tigers finished with nine hits, led by Washington with two RBIs and Bryce Williams with two hits in four at-bats. Co-Lin totaled 14 hits, with Avery Griffin going 3-for-3 and stealing two bases. John Mark Grissom added two hits, and the Wolves stole six bases in total. The Wolves also turned one double play.

In Game 2, both teams showcased strong pitching, but the Wolves capitalized early. Trey Davidson put Co-Lin on the board with a two-run home run in the first inning and added an RBI double in the third. Conner Timbs pitched five and one-third innings for the Tigers, allowing three runs on six hits with three walks. Brady White earned the win for the Wolves, tossing five innings of one-hit baseball with seven strikeouts and five walks.

The Tigers’ only hit came from Gabe Colòn, who went 1-for-2. Patience at the plate was evident as the Tigers drew seven walks, with Cooper Johnson drawing two. Defensively, the Tigers turned two double plays and committed no errors. West led the team with five defensive chances, while Bryan Travis had a game-high nine defensive opportunities. Davidson led the Wolves with three RBIs and went 2-for-3 at the plate, with Avery Griffin adding two hits. The Wolves stole four bases and did not commit an error in the field.
