Belhaven’s Macy Funderburk Named NFCA Division III Pitcher of the Week

Jackson, Miss. — Macy Funderburk, a junior pitcher for Belhaven University, has been named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Pitcher of the Week. The award follows her outstanding performance at the CCS Tournament, which earned the Blazers an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Funderburk pitched in six games during the tournament, finishing with a 5-0 record and a 1.75 ERA. She set a new CCS Tournament record with 32 innings pitched and tied the record for wins in the event. Her efforts helped Belhaven navigate the elimination bracket after dropping their first game.

Her most notable performance came on championship Saturday. In the opening game against Huntingdon, she worked through early traffic and helped the team build a lead. She then pitched a complete game in the title contest, allowing just two runs while facing multiple tight spots. Belhaven secured a 5-2 victory, capturing the tournament championship.

During the tournament, Funderburk demonstrated versatility by starting, relieving, and pitching on short rest. She limited damage late in innings and kept the team competitive under pressure. This marked her second consecutive year being named CCS Tournament MVP, and she is now 9-0 in conference tournament games in her career.

Belhaven will now prepare for the NCAA Division III Tournament, with their regional destination to be announced soon, according to school officials.
