Southern Miss Pitcher Camden Clark Earns Sun Belt, Baseball America Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss sophomore right-handed pitcher Camden Clark has been recognized with two weekly honors. Clark was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week and was selected to the Baseball America Team of the Week, according to university athletics officials.

In only his third start of the season, Clark pitched a career-high seven innings, striking out 15 batters and throwing 105 pitches, 83 for strikes, in a 3-1 victory over ULM last Saturday evening. He did not issue a walk and allowed only three hits, surrendering a solo homer in the third inning. Clark’s performance marked his sixth win of the season and the most strikeouts by a Southern Miss pitcher since Tanner Hall struck out 15 against Arkansas State on April 30, 2023.

Clark fanned at least one batter in every inning and struck out three in two different innings. His season totals now include 55 strikeouts and six walks in 35 innings. The honors mark Clark’s first weekly award from the Sun Belt and the second pitcher accolade for the Golden Eagles this season. Southern Miss has also won the league’s Player of the Week award twice this year.

The Golden Eagles, 34-14 overall and 16-8 in Sun Belt play, are set to continue their schedule with a three-game series at James Madison this weekend. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
