Achau, Bolden Earn SWAC Weekly Track Honors

Jackson, Miss. — Freshmen Ryan Achau and Sya Bolden each earned Southwestern Athletic Conference weekly honors following their performances at the Mississippi Christian Opener on Friday, the conference announced Monday.

Achau, from Baringo, Kenya, made a strong debut in his first collegiate race, winning the men’s 5K in 15 minutes, 5.3 seconds. He was named SWAC Newcomer of the Week for his effort.

Bolden, a Lafayette native, also competed in her first college race on Sept. 4. She finished the women’s 5K in the top 25 and contributed to her team’s top-five finish. Bolden was also honored as SWAC Newcomer of the Week.
