ABAC wins series against Blue Mountain Christian on Senior Day
Blue Mountain, Miss. — The Blue Mountain Christian baseball team hosted Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on Senior Day, competing in three games but ultimately losing the series. The weekend concluded with a 6-1 victory for ABAC in Saturday’s finale.
The series opener was highly competitive, with Blue Mountain narrowly falling 12-11. Both teams exchanged runs throughout the game, making it one of the most thrilling matches of the season, according to sources.
ABAC gained more separation in Game 2 with an 8-2 win. In Saturday’s finale, Blue Mountain took an early lead. In the third inning, Reise Thomas hit an RBI double to left field, scoring Ethan Hirons and giving the Toppers a 1-0 advantage.
The Stallions responded in the fourth to even the score. A solo home run in the sixth put ABAC ahead 2-1. Despite efforts to rally, Blue Mountain remained within striking distance until the ninth inning, when ABAC extended its lead by adding four runs.
Offensively, the Toppers totaled 10 hits, led by Jake Meilstrup’s four-hit performance. Thomas added two hits and their only RBI. Jarrett Morris, Gavin Foley, Trace Roy, and Cody Presley also contributed at the plate. On the mound, Benji Webb pitched 8.1 innings, striking out nine and keeping the game close. Jack Hearn finished in relief.
Though the series did not go their way, Blue Mountain Christian’s players showed resilience and competitiveness, especially during the tightly contested opener and their Senior Day performance, according to team officials.
