84 Mississippi State Athletes Named to SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State University announced that 84 of its student-athletes were named to the 2025-26 Southeastern Conference First-Year Academic Honor Roll, the league office said Tuesday.
The honor recognizes freshmen who began their academic and athletic careers during the 2025-26 school year, maintained a GPA of 3.00 or higher, and met SEC eligibility and credit hour requirements.
Honorees come from 12 varsity programs, including baseball, softball, men’s track and field, football, women’s basketball, women’s golf, soccer, women’s tennis, volleyball, men’s golf, and men’s basketball. Baseball led all programs with 20 selections, followed by softball with 10, women’s track and field with nine, and football with eight.
Students earned recognition while pursuing degrees in fields such as mathematics, criminology, aerospace engineering, economics, agribusiness, finance, chemical engineering, psychology, and human development and family science, among others. To qualify, student-athletes must have been enrolled full-time for the entire academic year, completed a minimum number of credits, and participated in their sport’s championship segment. Summer coursework is included in GPA calculations when applicable.
Across the SEC, 1,755 student-athletes received the first-year honor. Mississippi State’s honorees exemplify strong academic performance across diverse disciplines, the university said.
