Milburn and Landreth Lead Ole Miss to Opening Wins at Black and Gold Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Ole Miss men’s tennis opened the Black and Gold Invitational on Friday with strong performances from juniors Kai Milburn and Mason Landreth. The Rebels’ duo each won singles matches before combining for a doubles victory.

Milburn started the day with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win over Middle Tennessee’s Houston Jacques. Landreth followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against MTSU’s Birtan Duran. Their wins gave Ole Miss two singles victories in the opening round.

The pair then teamed up in doubles, defeating Jacques and Antoine Mayoral of Middle Tennessee 6-4. Their win completed a perfect first day for the Rebels at the invitational.

Ole Miss will continue competition at the Black and Gold Invitational on Saturday. The tournament continues through the weekend, with upcoming matches scheduled for Oct. 9 at the ITA Southern Regional and other events.
