Ole Miss Women’s Tennis Opens Strong at Blue and Gray Invitational
Montgomery, Ala. — Ole Miss women’s tennis started the Blue and Gray Invitational with a solid performance Friday, securing six victories across singles and doubles matches, according to the university.
In doubles play, sophomore Riley Crowder and freshman Sarah Victoria Majesty Nita opened with a 6-1 win over Mississippi State’s Robinson and Seye. Fellow freshmen Lèna Thomas Iglesias and Alice Battesti followed with a 7-6 victory against West Alabama’s Milliam and Stancescu.
In singles, Battesti defeated Mississippi State’s Seye in a close match, 7-6, 7-5. Iglesias dominated West Alabama’s Milliam with a 6-3, 6-2 win, while Nita also secured a straight-set victory over Stancescu, 6-2, 6-2. Crowder lost to Mississippi State’s Robinson in a tight two-set match, 7-5, 7-6.
The Rebels concluded the day with two doubles wins. Crowder and Nita defeated Utah’s Akid and Lenz, 6-2, and Iglesias and Battesti topped Utah’s Moore and Metwali, 6-4.
Ole Miss is scheduled to compete next at the ITA Southern Regional on Oct. 8. Follow the team on social media for updates.
