Mississippi State Women’s Golf Closes Second Round in Second Place at Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Mississippi State women’s golf moved into second place after shooting a team-best 5-under 279 in the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship, according to the tournament organizers. The Bulldogs are two strokes behind Florida, which leads at 8-under par.

Samantha Whateley led the team with a 4-under 67, the lowest score of any golfer in the second round. Her score marked her first round in the 60s this season and the 13th of her career. She is currently tied for second place at 5-under overall, two strokes behind the leader.

Avery Weed rebounded from a 2-over first round with a 1-under 70 in Saturday’s play, climbing 25 spots into a tie for 14th. This was Weed’s 56th career round at par or better and her third of the season.

Alicia Bellendir remains inside the top 10, tied for eighth, after shooting an even-par 71. She is one stroke under par entering the final round. Meanwhile, Alona Avery posted her second consecutive even-par round and is tied for 12th overall.

Ines Belchior, competing individually, shot a 2-under 69 and climbed 36 positions to tied for 38th. The Bulldogs will conclude the tournament Sunday, with live scoring available at scoreboard.clippd.com.

Mississippi State stands at 5-under par after two rounds. The final round will determine the team’s final place and individual awards.
