Mississippi State Tennis Players Head to Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery
Montgomery, Ala. — Mississippi State women’s tennis players Lauren Seye and Mia Robinson are set to compete this weekend in the Blue Gray Tennis Classic at Lagoon Park Tennis Center. The three-day tournament begins Friday, with the Bulldogs teaming up with Iowa State to form a four-player squad.
The team will face second-seeded Utah in its opening match at noon on Friday. The tournament features a unique format with four players per team, including two doubles matches and four singles matches, each counting as one team point. Doubles matches are played as six-point sets, while singles are best two-of-three sets. If teams are tied after singles, a 10-point tiebreaker determines the winner.
Due to weather, Friday’s action is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. Central Time, with potential matches on Saturday depending on weather conditions. Times and locations are subject to change, the event organizers said.
Seye, a sophomore from Drongen, Belgium, will make her first fall appearance for Mississippi State after transferring from UCF. She is one of 10 Bulldogs on the 2026-27 roster. Robinson, a sophomore from South Carolina, returns for her second season but is making her fall debut.
This tournament marks Mississippi State’s second fall event, following the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina. The Bulldogs will then travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the ITA Regional Championships from Oct. 8-12, the athletic department reported.
