Kyle Ferrie Sets School Record as Mississippi State Beats Missouri

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State secured a 31-24 victory over No. 19 Missouri in a sold-out Davis Wade Stadium Saturday night. The win marked the Bulldogs’ first home victory in a top-25 matchup since 2014, according to school officials.

Quarterback Kamario Taylor threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns. Fluff Bothwell and Anthony Evans III surpassed 100 yards rushing and receiving, respectively. The game also set a Guinness World Record for the most people ringing cowbells simultaneously, according to reports.

Senior kicker Kyle Ferrie made a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter and went on to convert four extra points. His performance made him Mississippi State’s all-time leader in field goals, extra points, and total points, surpassing legends like Anthony Dixon and Nick Fitzgerald.

Ferrie, a native of Searcy, Arkansas, has been the starting kicker since his freshman year. He has made 49 of 61 field goal attempts and 131 of 132 extra points, including a streak of 94 consecutive PATs, the school said. “It’s one of those things you dream of for so long,” Ferrie said. “There are so many people behind the scenes. You can’t do it without a team.”

Despite his individual achievement, Ferrie emphasized the importance of team success. “Breaking records is cool, but winning is a lot more cool,” he said. “We find ways to win. When you’ve got both winners in the headsets and on the field, you can be successful.” Ferrie has helped lead the team to a 4-0 start in his senior season, earning national respect along the way.
