Many NFL teams feature Mississippi State alumni on their rosters and coaching staffs, according to school officials. Currently, 24 Bulldogs alumni, including 19 players, are involved in the league.
Among notable players are Pro Bowlers Chris Jones, Dak Prescott, Jeffrey Simmons, and Elgton Jenkins. MSU also counts four first-round draft picks: Simmons, Sweat, Charles Cross, and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. Prescott earned NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2016 and was named Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2022, according to MSU athletic communications.
Other Bulldogs alumni making an impact include Devon Booth, a running back on the Indianapolis Colts practice squad, and linebacker Nathaniel Watson, also on the Colts practice squad but currently on injured reserve with a knee injury. On the sidelines, former Bulldogs such as Stephen Adegoke and Fred Walker serve as assistant coaches for the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars, respectively. Additionally, K.J. Wright is a linebackers coach for the San Francisco 49ers, and DeAndre Ward Sr. works as an assistant strength coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Dr. Allen Sills, Mississippi State’s alumnus, is the NFL’s chief medical officer, officials said.
Week 3 games set for Sunday include matchups such as the Los Angeles Chargers at Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs at Miami Dolphins, and the Baltimore Ravens versus the Dallas Cowboys in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The schedule also features Monday night’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears, with several Bulldogs alumni participating across teams.
