Mississippi State University has 24 alumni active in the NFL, including 19 players, according to school officials. These former Bulldogs are on rosters, coaching staffs, and practice squads across the league.
Notable among them are Pro Bowlers Chris Jones, Dak Prescott, Jeffery Simmons, Elgton Jenkins, Logan Cooke, and Montez Sweat. MSU also boasts four first-round draft picks in Simmons, Sweat, Charles Cross, and Emmanuel Forbes Jr. First-round selections Simmons and Sweat, along with Jones, have won Super Bowls.
Prescott, a former Bulldog, was named the NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2016 and the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2022, according to school sources. Other alumni making an impact include Devon Booth and Nathaniel Watson, who are on practice squads for the Colts and Browns, respectively.
In coaching and support roles, MSU alumni include Stephen Adegoke, safeties coach for the Houston Texans, and Fred Walker, offensive assistant for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Former Pro Bowler K.J. Wright is now linebackers coach for the San Francisco 49ers, while DeAndre Ward Sr. works as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Dr. Allen Sills, MSU alumnus, serves as the NFL’s chief medical officer, according to league officials. Week 2 NFL games featured several Bulldogs, including Montez Sweat for the Bears, Jeffery Simmons for the Titans, and Dak Prescott for the Cowboys.
