Kossuth falls short after a great season
Morton holds off Kossuth. They won 47-39 to advance to the state championship against Booneville.
Kossuth started this game in the lead. Forest was playing great defense, while Kossuth was letting it ride from beyond the arc. At the half the score was tied at 22.
After the half Forest took the lead first. Kelviana Parhm was determined to make sure her team won the game. She was hitting three point shots, and drawing fouls getting to the free throw line. Dacy Marsh from Kossuth was draining her share of threes as well.
Parhm hit a nice euro step layup to extend Forest’s lead to five with three minutes left in the third quarter. Shakira Robinson was relentless on defense during the fourth quarter. Her performance was helping her team keep the energy they needed to advance. She was the spark that gave her team confidence on defense. At the end of three the score was 38-33 with Forest in the lead.
Marsh would hit a three to start the fourth quarter. It brought Kossuth within six points.
Kelviana Parhm was on fire during the fourth quarter. The Lady Bearcats were hitting on all cylinders. They would win the game to on to face Booneville for the 3A state title.
“We have a great group of girls,” said Coach Rick Rodum. “Morton just played better today. It was a great season and we’ll be back next year.”
