Booneville holds off Morton to advance to state championship

Booneville came in looking to go to back-to-back championships. Their team was victorious today in a hard fought win. The Lady Blue Devils won the game, 33-30.

After the half, Booneville struck first. Sa’niyah Cook was on fire. She came out after the second half blazing.

Booneville would jump out to a team point lead. Makiya Sparkman hit a clutch three and the Morton crowd went crazy. She scores eight straight points to help their team get back in the game. At the end of the third the score was tied at 27.

Booneville scored the first points of the fourth quarter.

“We had to play a different kind of game today,” said Coach Smith. “We started the way we ended.”

The fourth quarter was intense to begin with. Kylee Johnson was leading her team well. She was all over the floor. Making layups and diving for loose balls.

“I kept telling them we need somebody to make a play. We needed somebody to do it.”

Booneville advances to play the winner of Kossuth vs. Forest.
