Belhaven Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Cochran Collegiate

The Belhaven men’s golf team concluded its final preparation before the Coastal Collegiate Sports (CCS) tournament with an eighth-place finish at the Cochran Collegiate held April 13-14 at Colonial Country Club in Cordova, Tennessee, according to school officials.

The Blazers finished the three-round event with a team score of 91 over par (+91), improving each round against a competitive NCAA Division III field. They opened with a +33 team score, led by Gannon Williams and Andrew Rogers, who each shot 78 (+6) in the first round.

John McIntosh posted an 81 (+9), while Andrew Scherer and Levi Turner finished with 84 (+12) and 89 (+17), respectively. In the second round, Belhaven shaved three strokes off its team score, finishing at +30 for the day. Scherer led the team with a 78 (+6), helping the Blazers move in the right direction.

Belhaven’s final round saw its best score, with a +28. Gannon Williams led the charge with a 77 (+5), finishing with a three-round total of 234 (+19) and placing 24th overall. Levi Turner carded a 78 (+6) to close the tournament strongly. Rogers, Scherer, and McIntosh also contributed solid scores in the final round.

Williams’ total of 234 placed him as the top scorer for Belhaven. Rogers finished 32nd at 24 over par, Scherer was 40th at 26 over, McIntosh placed 53rd at 34 over, and Turner ended 56th at 36 over. Rogers also ranked among the top on par 4 scoring with an average of 4.23 strokes and tied for the team-high with seven birdies during the event.
