No. 24 Jones volleyball extends winning streak to four with 3-1 win over Southwest

SUMMIT — The 24th-ranked Jones volleyball team extended its winning streak to four matches with a 3-1 victory over Southwest on Wednesday night at Bear Gymnasium.

The Bobcats, now 7-2 overall, won the match with set scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-9, 25-14. They remain unbeaten in all-time meetings against Southwest. Southwest dropped to 3-5 with the loss.

Jones head coach John Dussouy credited the team’s resilience. “Southwest is a very good passing team and they were prepared against us,” he said. “We had to be a little more aggressive with our serving. We came out very sluggish after Labor Day Weekend, but I was happy with the way we responded after the second set.”

The Bobcats seized control after a tight second set, dominating the third 25-9. They closed out the match in the fourth set, hitting a match-high .561 with 17 kills. Selah Sandridge led the team with 15 kills, followed by Jensi Doise with 14, Amaya Wilson with 11, and Izzi Barnes with 10.

Olivia Guth contributed 23 digs, and Addyson Sides added 10. Jones will play four matches at the Lurleen B. Wallace Crossover in Andalusia, Alabama, on Sept. 11-12.
