Senatobia — No. 23 Jones College lost to unbeaten Northwest on Sunday evening, falling 3-0 inside Howard Coliseum. The Rangers improved to 19-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference. The Bobcats dropped to 11-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Northwest edged Jones 35-29 in kills, but the Rangers’ service game made the difference. Northwest finished with 10 aces compared to two for Jones and held a 5-3 edge in blocks. Jones hit .154 for the match, while Northwest hit .205.
Myah Favre led Jones with nine kills on 19 attacks without an error for a .474 hitting percentage. Izzi Barnes added six kills, and Amaya Wilson recorded five while hitting .333. Claire Wicker directed the Bobcats’ offense with 22 assists and also contributed 10 digs. Olivia Guth led Jones defensively with 11 digs, and Wicker and Selah Sandridge added 10 each. Guth and Wicker each recorded a service ace.
Northwest controlled the first set early, producing 11 kills and hitting .182 to win 25-15. The Bobcats responded in the second, leading 22-14 before a late rally by Northwest resulted in a 25-22 victory for the Rangers. In the third set, Northwest hit a match-best .225 with 12 kills, sealing the sweep with a 25-15 win. Jones put down 11 kills in the final set and hit .182, its best percentage of the match.
Sofia Gonzalez led Northwest with 14 kills, followed by Valerie Hurdle with nine and Ariana Woods with seven. Woods and Adalyn Callahan each served four aces, helping Northwest record 10 as a team. Chloe Rodriguez dished out 21 assists, and Jania Rose led all players with 16 digs. Callahan added 14 digs for the Rangers.
