Jones College beats Northwest 2-0 on the road to stay undefeated

Senatobia, Miss. — Fifth-ranked Jones College remained unbeaten with a 2-0 victory over Northwest on Tuesday night at the Ranger Soccer Complex. The Bobcats scored early and held strong defensively to secure the win.

Jones took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when Stanley Georgiou converted a penalty kick. He finished the match with three shots, all on target, and was active throughout the game. Mario Novaku added an insurance goal from 30 yards out late in the match, sealing the victory.

The Bobcats dominated much of the match, holding a 10-4 advantage in shots and a 12-1 edge in corner kicks. Jones kept pressure on Northwest, which did not record a shot in the first half. Ranger goalkeeper TJay Gibb made two first-half saves to keep the game close.

In the second half, Jones continued to press, producing six shots and forcing Gibb into five more saves. The Bobcats put the game away in the 87th minute when Novaku scored on a long shot. Gibb finished with seven saves for Northwest, while Jones goalkeeper Correro earned the shutout with two saves.
