Jones College Men’s Soccer Extends Unbeaten Streak with 5-2 Win at Enterprise State

ENTERPRISE, Ala. — Jones College’s men’s soccer team remained undefeated Tuesday night after a 5-2 victory over Enterprise State at Bates Memorial Stadium.

The Bobcats scored three times in the first 27 minutes and carried a 3-1 lead into halftime. They added two more goals in the second half to improve to 5-0-1 this season.

Jones opened the scoring early, with Stanley Georgiou converting a penalty kick in the fourth minute. Braden Buchanan doubled the lead in the 24th minute after chasing down an errant pass and beating the keeper. Calvin Harrison then scored in the 27th minute, assisted by Buchanan, to push the advantage to 3-0.

Enterprise State responded in the 31st minute, with AJ Bon-Jorno scoring a top-shelf shot to make it 3-1 at halftime. Jones outshot the Eagles 16-3 in the first half.

In the second half, Harrison scored his second goal in the 70th minute, extending the lead to 4-1. Enterprise State pulled a goal back in the 76th minute on a shot from Axel Gomez, but Georgiou scored his second in the 80th minute on a long throw-in from Rob Bradley, sealing the 5-2 victory.

The Bobcats finished with 29 shots, including 21 on target, and held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks. Georgiou and Harrison each scored twice, while Buchanan contributed a goal and an assist. Mario Novaku and Kinson Smith also tested the goalkeeper with multiple shots.

Jones returns home Thursday, Sept. 10, to face Dyersburg State at 5 p.m. Tickets are available online and at the gate, with no livestream scheduled due to scheduling conflicts.
