Bear Volleyball defeats Co-Lin in inaugural match

The Southwest Bears volleyball team secured a 3-1 win against Co-Lin on Wednesday in Wesson, Mississippi. The match marked the Bears’ first meeting with Co-Lin this season.

Prior to facing Co-Lin, the Bears defeated Louisiana Christian 3-2 on Tuesday, improving their record to 2-4. Addie Raye Pennington led the team with 38 assists against Louisiana Christian, while Lillian Daviss recorded 22 kills and Ina Smith had 17 digs.

In the Co-Lin match, the Bears opened strong, winning the first two sets 25-15 each. Co-Lin responded with a close third set, cutting the lead to 2-1. Southwest closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set.

Pennington contributed 28 assists in four sets against Co-Lin. Ina Smith led the team with 15 kills. Pennington also had nine digs, with Ava Smith and Caroline East each contributing eight digs.

The Bears improved to 3-4 with the victory and are scheduled to host Jones on Wednesday, September 9.
