Southwest Men’s Soccer Wins Two on the Road, Extends Win Streak to Three

The Southwest Bears men’s soccer team extended their winning streak to three games with victories over the University of Mobile and Oxford of Emory. After a narrow 1-0 loss to Jacksonville, the Bears bounced back with strong performances on the road.

On September 2, the Bears traveled to Mobile, Alabama, and defeated the University of Mobile 4-1. Ethan Jensen scored twice, while Ilan Marin and Jules Bertrand each added one goal. The team then headed to Birmingham, Alabama, on September 6 and beat Oxford 5-3. Braiden Bonds led the team with two goals, and Ilan Marin, Ethan Jensen, and Brayan Pelayo each scored once.

Multiple players contributed with assists, including Tyler Daramy, Ethan Jensen, Theo Tayau, and Daxus Arkin. Head coach Zach Mills expressed confidence in the team’s progress. “We are excited to be 3-1. Especially since we are using this time to prepare for conference matchups and are still building chemistry,” Mills said. “The guys are working hard, and they see it paying off. Our conference is one of the best in the nation, so we just need to keep focusing on our goals, which is primarily making playoffs.”

The Bears will host Northeast Alabama on September 9 for their first home game of the season.
