William Carey, Mobile Men’s Soccer Play to Scoreless Draw
The William Carey men’s soccer team and the University of Mobile played to a scoreless draw Thursday night in Mobile, Alabama.
Both teams struggled to create clear scoring chances in a tightly contested first half. William Carey recorded one shot on goal, while Mobile had two shots on target. Strong defensive efforts from both sides kept the game goal-free at halftime.
In the second half, offensive pressure increased, especially from William Carey. The Crusaders launched six shots on goal during the final 45 minutes, compared to two for Mobile. Despite the offensive push, neither team was able to break through the opposing defense.
Goalkeepers and defenders remained stalwart throughout the match. William Carey nearly scored in the final minute when Souleymane Balde headed a cross toward goal, but the Mobile goalkeeper made a crucial save to preserve the draw.
The Crusaders will face Faulkner University on Saturday, Sept. 19, in Montgomery, Alabama, in an SSAC matchup scheduled for 4 p.m.
