Livingston, Ala. — Mississippi Christian lost to West Alabama 3-0 on Friday night. The Choctaws finished with 32 kills and a .026 hitting percentage, while West Alabama had 39 kills and hit .306, according to match statistics.
Mississippi Christian stayed even through much of the first set before West Alabama broke a 17-17 tie with five straight points. West Alabama took the set 25-18. The Choctaws responded in the second set, tying at 8-8 after erasing an early deficit. However, West Alabama scored six straight points to take control and won 25-17.
The third set saw West Alabama lead from 15-15 on, eventually winning 25-19. Mississippi Christian opened the set strong with kills from Rhaia Davey and Foster, aided by Reese Regner’s assists. Meg Paparella served four consecutive aces to give the Choctaws an 8-2 lead, but West Alabama responded with a late push to secure the victory.
Foster led Mississippi Christian with 13 kills and 13.5 points, hitting .233. Paparella added four aces and 12 digs, while Regner led with 17 assists. Cydney Mitchell contributed eight kills and three blocks. The Choctaws will host Christian Brothers on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Clinton, Mississippi.
