BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — The Delta State University women’s cross-country team finished second in the women’s 5K at the Topper Trails Classic, held at Blue Mountain College. The Lady Statesmen scored 40 points and posted an average time of 23:17, with a 1:03 spread among their top finishers.
Lindsey Hogue led Delta State, crossing the finish line in 22:41.70 to place sixth overall. Caroline McAlpin finished seventh in 23:08.00, while Mackenzie Mercer and Linnet Barrock finished eighth and ninth, in 23:25.20 and 23:25.90, respectively. Kayla Lofton secured a 10th-place finish in 23:45.50, and Nayeli Lopez contributed a 12th-place effort in 24:43.80, rounding out the team’s scoring lineup.
Blue Mountain College claimed the team title with 15 points and an average time of 21:32. Lane College and Tougaloo College finished behind Delta State, which showed depth and consistency in the race.
The Lady Statesmen are scheduled to compete next Saturday at the CBU Invitational in Memphis, according to school officials.
