Delta State Athletics Schedule Highlights for the Week

Delta State University’s Statesmen and Lady Statesmen are preparing for a busy week of athletic events as they aim to recover from recent losses, according to school officials. Fans can stay updated on game coverage and purchase tickets through the school’s website, gostatesmen.com, and follow the teams on social media platforms including X (@dsustatesmen), Instagram (@dsuathletics), and Facebook (Delta State Statesmen).

The week kicks off with a Mississippi Farm Bureau press conference on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Arant Family Room. The event will be streamed on the Delta State YouTube channel, and media are invited to attend. No other events are scheduled for Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the men’s soccer team hosts Union University at 3:30 p.m. on Delta Field in Cleveland, Mississippi. The women’s soccer team will play Union University at 1 p.m. on the same field. Both matches will be available via live stream and live stats.

Additional soccer matches are scheduled for Saturday, with the women facing UAH at 1 p.m. and the men at 3:30 p.m. Both games will be played at Delta Field and streamed live. The football team will host Mississippi Valley State University on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Rice-Totten Stadium in Itta Bena, Mississippi, with live streaming and stats available.

Other athletic events include a cross country meet at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, with the time to be determined. There are no events scheduled for Thursday, Sunday, or Monday.

Recent team results include the men’s soccer team’s 4-0 loss to Christian Brothers University to conclude non-conference play, and the Lady Statesmen’s 3-2 defeat to Valdosta State in their conference opener. The football team lost to the Mules, 59-10.

Players of the week include Williams from football, who contributed both a kickoff return and a 38-yard reception, and Shepherd from women’s soccer, who scored her first career goal in a close match. Fans are encouraged to start shopping for tickets and stay connected for updates.
