William Carey advanced to the SSAC Championship semifinals with a 1-0 win over the University of Mobile on Friday at Danny Owens Field in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Souleymane Balde scored seven minutes into the match, finishing a pass over the defense from Fabian Arroyo with a shot into the bottom corner. The goal held up as the game’s only score.
Carey took 10 shots in the first half, with two on target, while limiting Mobile to four shots and one on goal. The teams combined for three shots on target after halftime as their defenses kept scoring chances limited.
The Crusaders were scheduled to play UT Southern in the semifinals Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex. Kickoff was listed for 7 p.m.
