Alcorn State Men’s Tennis Wins HBCU National Championship in Atlanta

ATLANTA — The Alcorn State University men’s tennis team won the HBCU National Championship over the weekend, defeating several HBCU programs in singles and doubles competitions, according to tournament organizers.

Vicent Llobell led the Braves with multiple singles wins, including victories over NC Central’s Lucas Hartley, Alabama State’s Luka Videnovic, and teammate Jose Luis Zenteno. Ronaldo Vera also contributed two singles wins, defeating opponents from Tuskegee and NC Central. Kahari McNeal and Joseph Puig secured additional singles victories, helping to bolster the team’s overall success.

The Braves excelled in doubles, with Hilb Kovalenko and Emre Atlamis defeating Norfolk State, and Llobell teaming with Puig for two wins. The team’s strong showing culminated in earning the national title, marking a significant achievement for Alcorn State tennis.

On the women’s side, the Lady Braves showcased impressive individual performances, with Ivanna De Gregorio and Oilhane Villanueva each recording two singles victories. Hana Bajramovic, Jennyar Hussein Elba, Gloria Jovic, and Natalija Nikolic also contributed key wins in singles play.

In doubles action, Elba and Villanueva defeated Bethune-Cookman, while Jovic and Bajramovic posted a win over Norfolk State. Nikolic and De Gregorio also secured a victory over Florida A&M, highlighting the depth and talent of Alcorn State’s women’s tennis team.
