Alcorn Falls to No. 7 North Carolina in Final Non-Conference Match

Chapel Hill, N.C. — The Alcorn State Lady Braves were defeated 5-0 by the No. 7 North Carolina Tar Heels in their final non-conference match Sunday afternoon. North Carolina improved to 9-0-1 with the victory.

Alcorn finished the game with three shots, including two by junior Grace Ambrose and one by sophomore Natalie Penniston-John. Bailey Perales started in goal for the Lady Braves, making two saves and allowing four goals in 75 minutes and 55 seconds. Freshman Renata Da Rosa played the final 14 minutes and recorded one save.

The Lady Braves are set to begin Southwestern Athletic Conference play next Sunday, Sept. 27, when they travel to Montgomery, Alabama, to face Alabama State. The match is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m.
